Le 17 juillet 1789, c'est en fixant sur son chapeau une cocarde bleue et rouge, couleurs de la ville de Paris que Louis XV associera ainsi ces couleurs au blanc de la monarchie. A partir de là ces trois couleurs représenteront la FRANCE.
July 17th, 1789, by fixing a blue and red rosette on his hat, the colors of the town of Paris, Louis XV mixed these two colors with the white of monarchy. From there on these three colors represented FRANCE.
