L'EPIPHANIE
Dans la religion chrétienne, le 6 janvier correspond à la présentation de l'enfant Jésus aux Rois mages, qui vinrent lui rendre hommage en lui apportant des présents : L'or de Melchior symbolisait la royauté, l'encens de Balthazar la divinité et la myrrhe de Gaspard annonçait la souffrance à venir de l'enfant.
Pendant longtemps le jour de Noël était célébré le jour de l'Epiphanie considéré comme plus importante que la nativité elle même. Les Arméniens encore aujourd'hui fêtent Noël le 6 janvier.
C'est à cette occasion que sera servie la Galette des Rois, tradition typiquement Française.
